Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty opens first Mainland China concept store

"Who sent you?" With this bold tagline, Fenty Beauty, the cosmetics brand founded by Barbadian singer Rihanna, has launched its first concept store in Mainland China. The store embraces a sci-fi-inspired theme called “Future Planet.” The location in Shenzhen was deliberately chosen to match the city's cyberpunk aesthetic, known for its tech startups and futuristic skyline.

The store’s design features chrome finishes and expansive digital screens, creating an immersive sci-fi atmosphere. A digital avatar of Rihanna appears throughout the displays, reinforcing the theme.

Inside, the shop showcases the brand’s avant-garde style with interactive zones, including a grid of 50 foundation shades, a “space station” for trying out Fenty products, and a Fenty Face customization area. Visitors can even create their own avatars, explore the virtual “future planet” on video, and print an identity card. A fun feature allows guests to shake a robotic hand to receive a “blind box” gift.

Outside, robot figures patrol a “signal tower,” further enhancing the futuristic vibe. The opening aligns perfectly with Fenty Beauty’s forward-thinking brand image and Rihanna’s own style. The brand continues to capture the attention of young Chinese consumers, especially following Rihanna’s recent pop-up event in Shanghai and her live stream on Douyin (TikTok's Chinese counterpart).
